LegWorks takes top spot at Parapan Am accessibility tech pitch contest

BresoTec, formerly known as ApneaDx, also among top five finalists TORONTO, August 11, 2015 – Legworks' next-generation prosthetic knee took first place in Ontario Centres of Excellence’s (OCE’s) Parapan Am Games-affiliated Accessibility Tech Pitch competition. Call for Applications: MaRS Innovation seeks applicants for early-stage MSc POP projects

MaRS Innovation (MI) seeks applicants for the Medical Sciences Proof-of-Principle (MSc PoP) program, which supports early-stage medical science technologies and allows their founding teams to conduct crucial proof-of-principle work. Through the two-year MSc POP program, MI will distribute funding awards to qualified applicants within its membership on behalf of the Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI). MI start-up ApneaDx Inc. among program's first round of participants The first three companies selected to participate in the MaRS EXCITE program aim to improve outcomes for breast cancer, sleep apnea and drug-resistant hypertension. ApneaDX Inc: A Medical Device to Accurately Diagnose Sleep Apnea at Home

MaRS Innovation and the University Health Network's Toronto Rehabilitation Institute have collaborated to bring a new technology to market that accurately diagnoses sleep apnea at the patient's home. Sleep apnea is a medical disorder that is gaining increasing recognition as a major health issue. It is estimated that six to eight per cent of the world's population suffer from the disease, but 85 per cent are undiagnosed.
