Mobeen Lalani is the Manager, Technology and Venture Development and Co-Director of the University of Toronto Early-Stage Technology (UTEST) program at TIAP, where he plays a key role in identifying, advancing, and commercializing breakthrough health technologies. He leads due diligence, market analysis, and technology development planning, helping launch and scale high-potential ventures that are shaping the future of healthcare delivery.
Mobeen brings a multidisciplinary background spanning health innovation, strategy, and the commercialization of digital health and other science-based technologies. Prior to joining TIAP, he served in sales and business development leadership at a telehealth technology startup, partnering with leading pharmaceutical companies and health and wellness brands across Canada and the United States. His experience also includes healthcare innovation and strategic initiatives for Canada’s largest pharmacy retailer, as well as supporting the development of health data transformation strategies within primary care.
Beyond his professional work, Mobeen is an active contributor to Canada’s innovation ecosystem through several leadership and advisory roles. He serves as the Ontario Lead for the South Asian Venture Capital Association of Canada, a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to advancing South Asian excellence in entrepreneurship and innovation. He is also a member of the Catalyst Council at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and serves on Canada’s Chief Science Advisor’s Youth Council.
Mobeen holds a Master of Health Informatics and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Population Health from the University of Toronto, as well as a certificate in Health Law and AI in Healthcare from the University of Ottawa. He was selected as one of six AI trainees by the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the AI for Good Foundation, where he explored the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare during periods of global unrest.
His contributions to healthcare innovation have been widely recognized, with Mobeen being named to The Peak’s 2023 Emerging Leaders in Canada: Top 40 Under 40 in Health, and a recipient of the Digital Health Canada Emerging Leader Award.
