Justin leads the Venture Builder program at TIAP to advance early-stage health science technologies with the goal of establishing and supporting start-up companies from our member institutions. Justin works closely with principal investigators and their research teams, tech transfer offices, investors and collaborators to identify and accelerate promising therapeutics and diagnostics that can make a significant impact on the healthcare of Canadians.
Prior to joining TIAP, Justin worked as an executive in several start-up biotech companies as well as UHN/UofT spin out companies that were part of incubators and accelerators. He provided strategies to advance technologies including developing key research studies and clinical trials, corporate decks, business plans, introductions to lead investors for seed funding, licensing, joint ventures, M&As, and strategic partnerships.
He is also well known in the Toronto research community for advancing novel technologies while serving as a Staff Scientist and Research Program Manager of the STTARR Innovation Centre for 12 years at UHN. Furthermore, he holds Faculty positions at the University of Toronto in Business, Pharmacy, Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Justin holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with expertise in drug delivery from the University of Toronto and an Executive MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
