Barry brings to TIAP more than 20 years of strategic communications and stakeholder relations experience, working with innovative Canadian health / life science organizations across the country. Prior to joining TIAP, he spent over 10 years as a member of the executive team at adMare BioInnovations and its predecessor organization, The Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) where, as Senior Director of Communications and External Relations, he oversaw all aspects of the organization’s external communications strategy while also driving related activities (e.g. company branding, launch, and development of communications vehicles) for a number of its spin-off / portfolio companies. His responsibilities also included managing adMare’s relationships with its primary public sector funding partners; seeing him play a pivotal role in successfully securing over $225M in critical funding for the organization and its partners.

Barry previously held communications and program delivery roles with LifeSciences British Columbia (10+ years as Senior Director, Operations and Communications), Innovate BC, and the federal government’s Pacific Forest Research Centre; and has worked with additional innovation sector organizations such as GlycoNet, TRIUMF Innovations, and Vancouver’s new St. Paul’s Hospital and Health Campus.
